What actually moves the price
Term length
Longer terms (24–48 months) almost always show the lowest monthly rate. Paying month-to-month or annually costs more per month.
Renewal pricing
The advertised price is usually an introductory rate. Check the renewal price on the checkout page before you commit.
Add-ons at checkout
Domain privacy, extra backups, and site migration are often upsold separately — decide in advance what you actually need.
Questions we get asked
Why do prices vary so much between hosts?+
Shared hosting (Hostinger, Bluehost, HostGator, etc.) is priced low to attract new sites. Cloudways is a different category — pay-as-you-go cloud servers — so its pricing model isn’t directly comparable.
Is the cheapest option always the best value?+
Not necessarily. A lower starting price with a short money-back window and a steep renewal jump can cost more over two years than a slightly pricier plan with a longer guarantee.
Do any of these charge for SSL certificates?+
All ten providers listed here include a free SSL certificate on their entry plans — that’s standard across the industry now.
Should I prepay for multiple years to lock in the price?
It can save money if you’re confident in the provider, but it also locks up more cash upfront and makes switching harder if you’re unhappy. A shorter term with an easy migration path is safer for a first-time site.
